Hey, to tell you the truth the number one reason couples succeed with marriage counseling is when the couple puts in the necessary hard work. And I mean HARD work, it is not easy and there is no quick fix or solution.

So many couples will think it is the job of the counselor, and it is to an extent, but the main responsibility is the couple's.

Sometimes people want to blame others, besides themselves, and it is easy to blame your spouse and/or the counselor if things don't work out.

An example: As a counselor, countless times I can see it in their face when I tell them. I give them the tools and tell them what to do with them. They just don't want to work at it. They don't have the ability, desire, or forgiveness. They want to read a book, take a pill, visit a counselor a few times and have it be perfect. Doesn't work that way.

Good luck and good work!
